This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day through #EarthDayEmCasa – 9 days, 80 activities, and over 40 Portuguese organizations dedicated to protecting the Planet.
Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970, which gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about the state of our planet.
This Earth Day, we shift to digital demonstrations of environmentalism. Digital events are occurring all over the world, registered through the Earth Day international map of events, and this year, with #EarthDayEmCasa, Portugal and its network of organizations will be put on the map.
In Portugal, the Oceano Azul Foundation challenged dozens of national organizations to create and conduct activities to celebrate this Earth Day. So far, 40 organizations have joined this call and more than 80 digital events are planned under the hashtag #EarthDayEmCasa. The initiatives, which range from a greenwashing webinar to conversations about recycling myths, will take place on the digital platforms of each organization (respective websites, Facebook and Instagram pages).
