Europe and its Institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council and Court of Justice) are keystones in moving the needle on the international ocean agenda.

Europe and its Institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council and Court of Justice) are keystones in moving the needle on the international ocean agenda. As such, in partnership with Europe Jacques Delors, Oceano Azul Foundation is currently working towards the establishment of a European Ocean Pact, aiming to fill the gaps left by the EU Green Deal regarding ocean-action. 

Accomplishments 

Some actions have been developed to work on an EU Ocean Pact:

  • – Establishment of a stakeholder group of 27 members, chaired by Pascal Lamy, co-chaired by Genevieve Pons, and Tiago Pitta e Cunha, including several representatives and MEPs from key European ocean nations, as well as leading civil society experts.
  • – Development of an EU Ocean Pact Manifesto.
