Month of the Sea 2024

United for a wave of change.

In November, the Corpo Nacional de Escutas (CNE), Associação de Guias de Portugal (AGP), Associação de Escoteiros de Portugal (AEP), and Associação Juventude Adventista (AJA),  supported by Oceano Azul Foundation and Oceanário de Lisboa, came together to celebrate the “Month of the Sea”.

This initiative provided an invaluable opportunity for young people to connect with the ocean. Trough clean ups actions on beaches, rivers, and streams across the country, participants and their communities were inspired to adopt preventative behaviours and embrace a different perspective on the future of our planet.

With the participation of 3300 young individuals, over 60 actions were carried out, covering approximately 68 km of coastline, collecting 8,7 tonnes of marine litter.

Explore the map below to discover the groups, companies, and clubs that joined this unique national movement in 2024 and view the outcomes of each clean up activity.
